How wonderful it would be able to see the glories of Imperial Rome with our eyes, right? Or make a visit all'Atene of Pericles, or any other period in the past. Maybe the dinosaurs!
This is a dream that recurs in many science fiction books by Asimov (Cronoscopio) to Simak (Mastodon), and the plots in which the protagonist kills his grandfather disappears because (and similar situations) are wasted.
Unfortunately, at least in the present state of our knowledge, time travel, at least in a form as described in books and movies, you can not. Maybe one day it will be, but doubts are strong.
... But Sunday's Corriere number 18 of 2 May 1972 published an article entitled "invented the machine that takes pictures of the past", in four pages (from 26 to 29) was reported to the interview with Father Pellegrino Maria Ernetti in which he gave the announcement of the creation of a machine able to see past events. In fact, the article takes the moves from one photo to the administrator of the service delivered by an anonymous man called Mr X. The photo, which depicted the face of the dying Christ as well as, presumably, had appeared in the machine invented, was then constructed with the help of that fundamental Monaco Benedictine.
Here is what is stated in the initial part of the service:
"A month ago, a person whose name I can not do, and I will call Mr X, told me that Father Pellegrino Ernetti, a Monaco of the Benedictine order, along with a group of twelve physicists has managed to build a complex high-precision equipment that allows us to reconstruct images, sounds, events that occurred hundreds of years ago. "
Ernetti himself told a French theologian, Father François Brune:" We wanted to first check that what we saw was authentic. So we started with a scene quite recently, which had good sound and visual documents. We adjusted the equipment on which Mussolini uttered one of his speeches. Then go back in time, Napoleon picking up (if I understand what he said was the speech by announcing the abolition of the Venetian Republic to proclaim a republic Italian). Then we went in Roman antiquity. A scene of the vegetable market of Trajan, a speech of Cicero, one of the most famous, Accusing Catiline. We have seen and heard the famous "Quousque tandem Catilina."
Shortly thereafter, he continued Ernetti, it was possible to attend a Latin tragedy was lost, the "Thyestes" by Ennio Fifth, the father of Roman poetry. The Monaco transcribed the tragedy claiming to have returned to the world as a lost treasure and thus have demonstrated the effectiveness of its wonderful invention.
Ernetti are still reluctant to speak and give details of his invention, and said that the discovery had occurred by chance. It seems that at the time he worked with Father Agostino Gemelli, the founder of the Catholic University of Milan, had some experience with EVP. This practice was fashionable among certain groups of spiritualists, seems to offer the ability to record on tape the voices of the spirits of the afterlife. Ernetti is so convinced that you have captured the voice of the father of twins and imagined that the same way you could capture images of past events.
This photo also published by other newspapers, is great interest the letter in the Il Giornale dei Misteri No. 17:
"This is a hoax at the expense of players who have not had the opportunity to visit the Shrine of Merciful Love of Collevalenza (Todi). The face, beautiful, in fact, that the wooden cross, the work of Cullot Valera, venerated in that Sanctuary. Enter the image memory purchased at the Shrine, so you can realize the deception and publish in your magazine. "
The magazine shows a comparison of the photo memory card and the article in the Sunday Courier on which similarity can not be any doubt. In short, the picture would be a fake.
In conclusion: we do not have a car, we do not have a theory, and the only real evidence is a clear forgery. I am afraid that this time the travel time remain a pipe dream.
